Þingvellir, or Thingvellir with English letters (more on that later). Here was the site of the Alþing, the annual parliament of Iceland from the year 930 until the last session held at Þingvellir in 1798. Þingvellir is now a national park.

I turned off the highway to take the above pictures only to find this lovely house. Judging by the antique car in the drive, the owner has impeccable taste.
