It\u2019s known for its baroque architecture, churches, colorful houses and narrow, cobbled streets. The main square, F\u0151 T\u00e9r, and the alleyways around it are lined with art galleries, museums and shops. Just off the square, the 18th-century Greek Orthodox Blagovestenska Church has elaborate decor and an ornate partition screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Szentendre, too, can be visited by public transportation from Budapest. Take the H5 Metro from Batthy\u00e1ny t\u00e9r, on the Buda side of Budapest. Szentendre is the last stop, so don&#8217;t worry about snoozing on this 41 minute ride. Same on return,  Batthy\u00e1ny t\u00e9r, is likewise the last stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day I visited it was hot. Like 39 C hot. 102 F, kind of hot. That definitely called for a cold beer with lunch. Picture of lunch below, too. That&#8217;s fisherman&#8217;s soup or hal\u00e1szle. If you get a chance to visit Hungary, you&#8217;d be a fool to miss out on this local specialty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And now, the pictures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First some from Batthy\u00e1ny t\u00e9r overlooking the Danube and the Parliament on the opposite side.
